This song makes me think of my mother and I. I watched her slowly dissolve into addiction until she took her life when I was 18. Now at 36, I’ve experienced my own battle with addiction and see so much of the pain she must have experienced in my own journey. She was never the same, and neither will I be, but at least now I’m on the path to recovery. I wish she had found the same path. This song never fails to make me cry-it puts words to my grief for our parallel journeys.
